Crispy Bar Recipe

Happy Tuesday! I hope everyone is having a wonderful week! We are having a conference at Church and it has been GREAT!
I have this recipe I thought looked good. I have never tried this one, but it is easy and looks like it would taste very scrumptious :-) This is a great treat for the family to make together :-)

Crispy Butterscotch Bars

1 Bag of butterscotch chips
1/2 Cup peanut butter
1 Tbsp. margarine or butter
5 Cups of rice crispies

Place crispies in a large bowl.
Line a 13x9 pan with non-stick foil and spray with butter spray.
Melt chips, peanut butter and butter in double broiler over medium heat. *
Pour mixture over crispies and stir until well blended.
Place mixture in 13x9 pan.
Chill for 20-30 minutes, cut and enjoy!

* If you do not have a double broiler, make one! Take a sauce pot and fill it half way with water. Please a glass bowl over the pot. Be sure it can sit in the rim of the pot and the bowl is not floating on the water. Now, you have a double broiler!
The reason for this is so that the chips are not sitting directly on a flame. If they do, the can easy burn.

New Recipes!

Hello! Guess what I just got through doing??? Baking! I have an order for cheesecake bites scheduled for pick up tomorrow night! I am so happy to see and feel the cooler weather coming in! Yey! Fall and winter are my favorite seasons! I had the door and window open today and there was such a great breeze through the house! I plan to do that again this evening.

I have a recipe I make all the time that I am going to share with you, as well as one I have not tried yet.

First recipe: Chicken salad braid. This is so easy and so good! I make it for brunches and for lunch.

Chicken Salad Braid

1 Can chicken, white meat in water

1/2 Cop, mayo

1 Cup, shredded cheese (I like cheddar, but mozzerella works well too)

Salt

Pepper

Garlic powder

Onion powder

1 Can crescent rolls

milk

Pre-heat oven to 350*.

First, drain canned chicken. Then, mix first 7 ingredients together in a bowl.

Line a cookie sheet or jelly roll pan with non-stick foil.

Remove crescent rolls from can, place longest ends of each trianlge together, by twos, down the center of the foil lined pan. Where the rolls connect, in a straight line, down the center of the pan, press them together with your fingers.

At this point, you will have the points of each triangular shaped roll, pointing towards the edges of the pan and the big ends of the triangular rolls will be connected down the center of the pan.

Now, spoon your mixture down the center of the rolls.

After that, pull each end of the rolls, together, one by one, over the filling. This will make it look like a braind.

Brush milk over the bread and bake for about 20 minutes. Until golden brown.

Serve warm!

Whew...it was hard for me to put into words how to arrange those crescent rolls to make the braid! I hope you understand what I wrote!

The next recipe, I have not tried, but it looks tastey and easy!

No Bake Gingersnap Ball Cookies

3 Tbsp. corn syrup

2 Tbsp. peanut butter

5 oz. gingersnap cookies, crushed fine

1/3 cup powdered sugar

In a bowl, combine syrup and peanut butter.

Mix well.

Add crushed cookies.

Mix.

Roll into about 20 balls. Roll each ball in powdered sugar.

Chill and serve!

Have you ever had your cookie mix stick to your hands while rolling into balls?

I have....its becasue your hands are hot.

Run your hands under cold water and begin rolling again. It really works!

Please let me know if you try this cookie recipe.

Enjoy!

Book Give-a-way!!!!

Hello! Here it is, our very first book givaway! Here is how this works....

I am going to ask a question. All you have to do is post a comment on the blog, with your answer. At the end of a 2 week period, I will write everyones name who entered the contest on a separate piece of paper. I will place them all in a bag and my son, Anthony, will pick out 1 name. The name he picks, will be the person who wins the book!
The question is:

What kitchen/baking/cooking tip is your favorite?

Ex. mine is: When I purchase hamburber meat, I purchase about 3 pounds at a time. I separate it into 3 plastic, zip top bags with about 1 pound in each bag. When I go to make meat loaf, I defrost 1 bag and add my meatloaf ingredients to the bag, zip it back and squish it all together with my hands. My hands never get dirty, because they never have to touch the mixture!

Now its your turn.

What is your favorite kitchen/baking/cooking tip?
The book you will recieve is called "Grandma's baking and more". It contains all kinds of tasty recipes. Some of them include:
Easy eclair dessert, tiramisu, southern banana pudding, cobbler, bread pudding, Georgia peach pie, key lime pie, pumpkin pie, butterscotch blondies, dream bars, cookies and so much more!
Yummy :-)

Hummingbird cake!

Hello!
We went to the beach this weekend...for the first time, I tried a piece of "hummingbird cake". It was soooooo good! I am on a recipe hunt. I want to make one of these! It is a spice cake, with pecans, bananas and a cream cheese icing and it had a side of pineapple sauce. Oh, my goodness! It was so good and moist! We ate at "Sea Captains" restraunt in Myrtle beach and that is where I tasted this masterpiece! If anyone has a recipe for this cake, I would really appreciate it if you would pass it along to me!

Tea with Caramel

OK, I logged on to my blog this morning and I saw where Angel left a comment about trying the caramel in tea instead of coffee. So, I tried it this morning! I put some water in my teapot, turned on the stove until it boiled, then poured the hot water over my green tea with lemon tea bag. After I added my soy milk, I added a teaspoon of the caramel ice cream topping. And to my surprise, it tastes very good! Its a nice treat! Usually, I drink my tea plain, well with soy milk, but with no sweetener. Good idea Angel! :-)
