Hello! Sorry to have been gone for so long! I had a lot going on...from my sons Birthday party to family visiting from NJ.

I am going to share with you a link about self-canning today. It is that time of the year! We can buy up all kinds of fresh produce and can them to enjoy over the winter months.

Fried dough

Last week, I was craving donuts, but I was too lazy to drive to the nearest Dunkin' to get some. So, I fried up some canned biscuits, rolled them in powdered sugar and then filled them with chocolate cake icing.

They did not last long and tasted great!

What I did:

I ripped each buscuit into 2 pieces and then rolled each piece into a ball.

Then, I fried them in oil, until lightly browned on all sides.

Before they cooled, I rolled them in powdered sugar.

After they were all cooked, I opened each one up with my fingers and filled them with the icing.

To pipe the icing easliy, I spooned it into a plasic zip top bag and then cut off one corner. (Instant pastry bag)

A few days later, I made them again. Only this time, I left out the filling. I have to say, I like them both ways :)

Smores

I saw some recipes for S'mores in the Food Network magazine and I thought I would share them with all of my blog friends :)

You know, a S'more generally consists of graham crackers, marshmallows and chocolate...the marshmallows and chocolate being sandwiched between 2 graham crackers. It makes a decadent treat!

Check out these S'mores with a twist:

The Elvis S'more

Add sliced bananas and peanut butter....taking away the chocolate.

Cinnamon Toast S'more

Use cinnamon grahams and add butterscotch chips and white chocolate in place of the milk chocolate.

Mint Chocolate S'more

Use chocolate grahams and add a peppermint patty to the mini chocolate chips and marshmallow.

Caramel Apple S'more

Uses cinnamon grahams, apple slices and a (Rolo) chocolate covered caramel candy with the marshmallow.

If I HAD to choose the one I like best, I would say.... Cinnamon toast S'mores...with the Mint chocolate chip coming in a close second :)

Fall baking!

Once September gets here, my mind considers it to be the start of the fall season. For me, that means.... BAKING!

I have been baking this week. I even went as far as to call myself a possible, "bakaholic" on Facebook! Sadly, several agreed with me :/ Well, truly it is not a sad thing. I truly enjoy baking and giving away the goods :)

So far I have made: Italian Spice Cookies, Mint patties and today jumbo chocolate chip cookies. I will have the recipe for the mint patties and jumbo cookies coming soon.
